Current Main Activity:
Adaptable Controllers makes industrial controllers that are integrated into motion controllers with 4 axis, 32bit range and 1um resolution. A plain LINUX kernel patched with RTAI is used as a platform to coordinate real-time movements and transform the XY coordinates of two photos into an arbitrary 3D XYZ system and back.

René Sonderegger’s Background:
He grew up in Balgach, Switzerland.
1976 – 1980 Apprentice in Electronics at Schwarz Electronics in St Gallen and with formal education at the Gewerbliche Berufsschule in St Gallen, Switzerland.
1980 – 1981 Electronics Production Technician at Leica in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. While setting a baseline during the assembly of the first production of AC1 analytical plotters, he provided feedback to R&D.
1981 – 1982 Quality Control Inspector at Leica in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. He ensured the quality of components and photogrammetric equipment that left the factory.
1982 – 1984 Field Service Engineer at Leica in Heerbrugg, Switzerland. He received and provided training on photogrammetric equipment and aerial cameras. He serviced the equipment at the factory and at customers throughout Western Europe.
1984 – 1986 Field Service Engineer at Leica in Farmingdale, New York. He provided training on photogrammetric equipment and Wild RC10 and RC20 aerial cameras as well as serviced them in Farmingdale and at customers throughout the United States of America.
1986 – 1991 Field Service Engineer at Leica in Englewood, Colorado. He received and provided training on the latest GIS, “Wild”, “Kern”, and Leica equipment (such as System 9 GIS system, Leica Helava DPW, Leica Helava Digital Scanner Workstation DSW100 etc.) as well as serviced them in Englewood and at customers throughout the United States of America. He supported the sales team at ASPRS events.
1991 – 1997 Field Service Manager at Leica in Englewood, Colorado and continuing formal education at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He managed six decentralized field service engineers throughout the United States of America and Canada, the service budgets, and the spare part inventories for the service and support of photogrammetric equipment, aerial cameras and GPS. He coordinated with the factories, other Leica agencies throughout the world, as well as independent subcontractors. He gave technical presentations at workshops along with USGS, NASA, Texas DOT, KODAK, AGFA and others. He provided phone support to customers and emergency repair on their equipment.
At the same time, he earned a Bachelor Degree of Science in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration at Regis University. He attended seminars at AT&T, Data General, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems and provided feedback and innovative solutions with his presentations at Leica’s international service manager meetings.
1997 – Present Manager at RenaiSys in Parker, Colorado. When Leica and Helava founded LH Systems, he focused on service and support for organizations in the Photogrammetry, GIS, and Remote Sensing industry. With extensive and intimate knowledge of the industry, employment and contract inquiries from vendor to improve aerial camera, scanner and photogrammetry support services as well as customers asking for his technical assistance, he concluded that founding an independent organization would serve manufacturers and customers best. While mainly charging for repair, moving and maintenance services for analytical plotters, he provides phone support, visits and consults with customers and vendors when traveling. If he feels competent enough, he will evaluate or service aerial cameras and scanners. If unable to help directly, he will try to find a better source or at least a better way. He manages the daily affairs for RenaiSys.
2005 – Present Manager at Adaptable Controllers in Parker, Colorado. As a founding member of the organization, he contributed significantly to the operating agreement as well as the business and marketing plans. He seeks and develops symbiotic relationships with RenaiSys and others. With RenaiSys, he refocuses on the intangible consulting, support and service business. At Adaptable Controllers, he pushes efficient production, stocking and distribution of tangible assets. Should circumstances dictate or unknown opportunities arise, he has prepared to transfer his duties to others.
René now and today:
I'm writing this. Later on when you read this, I'm somewhere else. I might be hiking, working, sleeping, laughing, talking with a family member or enjoying time with a very special person. Please call me with any question, comment or suggestion.
René Sonderegger’s Vision:
He wants to make use of his background, continue to learn, respect, teach, challenge, relax and play. He sees his interest and research in electronics as time for contemplation and production to be nursed into something good for all. While remaining open minded for unknown opportunities, he sees himself working with new individuals and to continue his service to the many fine people in the Photogrammetry, GIS and Remote Sensing industry who he has met.
